Tricia O'Neil, born Patricia Lou O'Neil, is a talented actress, singer, and artist. She was born in Shevreport, Louisiana, to James Weldon O'Neil and Mary Jane 'Cita' Marxer, and is one of three siblings. O'Neil attended McAllen High School in El Paso and graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, with a degree in art and education.
O'Neil began her performing career as a jazz, blues, and folk singer and guitarist, appearing on radio, local television, and in nightclubs. She later changed her stage name from 'Patti O'Neil' to 'Tricia O'Neil' due to the existence of an actress with the same name.
O'Neil made her professional theatrical debut on Broadway in the 1970 production of Two By Two, starring alongside Danny Kaye and Joan Copeland. She won a World Theatre Award for her performance. Her motion picture debut came in 1972 with The Legend of Nigger Charley, a blaxploitation western starring Fred Williamson.
O'Neil's subsequent screen appearances were primarily as a guest star in episodic television, showcasing her versatility in portraying a wide range of characters. Her notable roles include Captain Rachel Garrett in Star Trek: The Next Generation, Kurak in Star Trek: The Next Generation, Korinas in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and Earth Alliance President Elizabeth Levy in Babylon 5: In the Beginning.
Aside from her acting career, O'Neil has also pursued her passion for art, working as a sculptress and commercial artist. She retired from screen acting in 2001.
