Trey's acting career commenced at the Alhambra Theatre & Dining, the oldest Equity dinner theater still operating in the United States, where he played principal roles in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Elf: The Musical, The Music Man, and Seussical.
In 2019, he took on the role of Colin Craven in Virginia Stage Company's 30th Anniversary production of The Secret Garden.
Trey made his film debut in the PassionFlix feature The Will, produced by Tosca Musk.
His exceptional skills as a singer and actor have been widely praised, with Broadway World noting, "Trey Murphy was astounding. I was thoroughly impressed by his vocal talent at his age," and "Trey Murphy is a great actor, he has just the right balance of toughness and innocence that the role requires."
In the 2019-2020 season, Trey starred as Young C in the Broadway National Tour of A Bronx Tale.
Trey has also lent his voice to various audio-book projects, including Hector in the Lunch Lady series from Penguin Random House, and Tarlo in the War Party Motion Comic from Rampart Press.
He followed up his feature film debut with The Man In The Long Black Coat (2023),co-starring with Mark Feuerstein, Neal McDonough, Dermot Mulroney, Jake Busey, Craig Sheffer, Alona Tal, and Christopher Lloyd.
From 2022-2023, Trey's voice acting career reached new heights with roles in The Wingfeather Saga (2022),Team Mekbots: Animal Rescue, and his most notable role to date as the pirate Taborr in Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures.
