Trevor Rabin, a South African born musician, embarked on his musical journey at the tender age of 12, having previously received piano lessons as a toddler. This marked the beginning of a remarkable career that would span decades and traverse multiple genres.
In 1972, Rabin co-founded the band Rabbit, which would go on to become the most successful rock act to emerge from South Africa. However, he eventually left the band to pursue a solo career in London, releasing three solo albums that showcased his impressive guitar work and songwriting skills.
Rabin's next major move was to Los Angeles in 1982, where he joined the newly reformed progressive art/rock group Yes. As a guitarist, keyboardist, singer, songwriter, producer, and recording engineer, he played a pivotal role in the creation of the groundbreaking 90125 album. He also contributed to the writing of the majority of the songs on 90125, as well as the subsequent albums Big Generator and Talk.
In 1994, Rabin left Yes to focus on a career as a film composer, a decision that would prove to be incredibly fruitful. He has since scored over three dozen films, including Con Air, Homegrown, Armageddon, Enemy of the State, Jack Frost, Deep Blue Sea, Gone in 60 Seconds, Remember the Titans, The 6th Day, The Banger Sisters, Kangaroo Jack, Bad Boys 2, The Great Raid, Exorcist: The Beginning, National Treasure, Coach Carter, Snakes On A Plane, The Guardian, and Flyboys.
Throughout his illustrious career, Rabin has received numerous accolades, including nine BMI film score awards and a lifetime achievement award from the Temecula Film Festival. He has also been nominated for and won a Grammy Award, cementing his status as one of the most respected and accomplished musicians in the industry.
