Person Biography:
Tracie Thoms has had a remarkable career in film, television, and theatre, spanning numerous years. Born in Baltimore, she began studying acting at the tender age of nine and continued her education at the prestigious Baltimore School for the Arts. She later earned a bachelor of fine arts degree from Howard University and a graduate degree in acting from the renowned Juilliard School in New York City.
Thoms is currently a series regular on the Apple series Truth Be Told, starring alongside Oscar winner Octavia Spencer. She also recurs on Fox's 9-1-1 and ABC's Station 19. Her extensive resume includes starring roles in film and television, such as the iconic musical Rent, alongside Rosario Dawson and Idina Menzel, and the Academy Award-winning film Looper, alongside Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Thoms has also made her mark on Broadway, starring in the acclaimed production of James Lapine's Falsettos, alongside Dulé Hill and Mekhi Phifer in Stick Fly, and opposite Alfre Woodard in Drowning Crow. Her Off-Broadway credits include Working at Encores! Off-Center, the world premiere of David Auburn's Lost Lake at Manhattan Theatre Club, and the acclaimed The Exonerated at The Culture Project.
In addition to her theatre and film work, Thoms has appeared in numerous television shows, including series regular roles on CBS' Cold Case, Fox's Wonderfalls, and recurring roles on Hulu's The First, WGN's Gone, Lifetime's UnREAL, Netflix's Love, and NBC's Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector.
