Born in Chatham, Ontario, Canada, Tracey Hoyt was the daughter of the late Alexander (Sandy) Hoyt and Alice Hoyt (nee Hodder). Her early life and training took place in Canada, where she honed her craft at esteemed institutions such as Theatre Aquarius, The Second City, The Banff Centre, and York University. Following an extensive touring schedule with The Second City, Hoyt went on to teach Improvisation at the Second City Training Centre in Toronto for a period of eight years. Her work on CBC TV's mockumentary series "The Tournament" garnered two Gemini Award nominations for Best Ensemble in a Comedy Series, alongside her talented castmates. In 2019, Hoyt's play "The Shivers" won the prestigious Cayle Chernin Theatre Development Award, solidifying her reputation as a talented playwright. Most recently, she was nominated for Best Supporting Performance, Web Program or Series for her captivating portrayal of Barb in the CBC Gem series "Decoys". Throughout her illustrious career, Hoyt has also established herself as a skilled voice artist, offering her expertise as an in-demand voice-over instructor and demo reel director since 2006.
