Tony Toscano is a renowned movie critic and film historian who has been reviewing films for over four decades. Born and raised in Southern California, just outside of Los Angeles, Tony's passion for television and film was evident from an early age.
As a junior high school student, Tony began writing a weekly movie review column for his school paper, which led to him being asked to write a film review column for the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. This early success sparked a lifelong career in film criticism.
Tony's first job was as a disc jockey at his hometown radio station, where he began reviewing films and interviewing celebrities as a regular feature of his radio show. This led to the birth of "Talking Pictures," a show that would become a staple of his career.
In 1996, Tony made the transition to television, becoming the film critic on CBS in Salt Lake City and later hosting his own production, "Talking Pictures," on KJZZ TV. His program was honored with an Emmy Award in 2002, and he received his second Emmy in 2007.
Tony's award-winning program, "Talking Pictures," has been syndicated to over 65 million households across the United States and in nearly 120 countries worldwide. In May 2008, the show moved to ABC-4 and Utah's CW-30.
In addition to his work on "Talking Pictures," Tony is also the film reviewer and entertainment guru for ABC-4's "Good Morning Utah" and "Midday." He is heard on a number of radio stations across the US, including I Heart Radio's top-rated "Morning Zoo with Frankie and Jess" on 97.1 ZHT in Salt Lake City.
Tony's fellow reviewers regard him as "one of the country's best celebrity interviewers," citing his in-depth conversations with notable stars such as George Clooney, Harrison Ford, Angelina Jolie, Robin Williams, Steven Spielberg, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Denzel Washington.
In 2006, Tony co-hosted the acclaimed series "Hot Topics" for Atlanta's ABC affiliate WSB TV. He is also a member of the Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA),a former board member of the Salt Lake City Film Center, and the founder of the Utah Film Critics Society.
When not previewing, reviewing, or interviewing, Tony can be found stream fishing in the mountains of Utah or at his BBQ.
