Biography

Admiral Sir Antony David Radakin, a distinguished and accomplished Royal Navy officer, holds the esteemed position of Chief of the Defence Staff, the highest-ranking military officer in the British Armed Forces. He assumed this role in November 2021, succeeding General Sir Nicholas Carter, and has since been responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and operational readiness of the British military.

Prior to his current appointment, Radakin served as First Sea Lord, the professional head of the Naval Service, from June 2019 to November 2021. In this capacity, he played a crucial role in shaping the Royal Navy's operational strategy and guiding its personnel.
