Biography

Tony Hill, a renowned film-maker, was born in London in 1946. He embarked on a unique educational journey, concurrently studying Architecture and Sculpture, which would later influence his experimental approach to filmmaking. Since 1973, Hill has been working as an independent film-maker, taking on the entire production process and developing his own equipment, a testament to his resourcefulness and dedication to his craft.

In addition to his work in film, Hill is a multi-disciplinary artist, also creating installations, photography, sculpture, and sound pieces. His work has been showcased at numerous Art Galleries and Film Festivals worldwide, garnering international recognition.

Hill's films have been broadcast on television in many countries and have won several prestigious awards, a testament to his talent and innovative storytelling. His commercial work includes directing music videos and TV commercials, further solidifying his reputation as a versatile and skilled film-maker.

Throughout his illustrious career, Hill has also shared his expertise with the next generation of film-makers. He taught film and video at the University of Derby from 1982 until 2002, rising to the rank of Professor of Film. Hill later taught filmmaking at Plymouth College of Art from 2004 until 2011 and currently serves as an Associate Lecturer at the University of Plymouth, continuing to inspire and mentor young artists.
