Biography

Tommaso is a multifaceted individual, boasting a dual career as a researcher in anthropology and a freelance photographer and filmmaker. His academic journey began with a degree in Economics from Bocconi University in Milan, but he later pursued advanced degrees in Anthropology and Development at the prestigious London School of Economics and an MRes in Visual Anthropology at Goldsmiths College, London.

Throughout his career, Tommaso has been drawn to exploring the intricacies of human behavior and cultures, often traveling to and working in South East Asia and South America. His extensive travels have provided a rich tapestry of experiences, which he has skillfully woven into his work as a photographer and filmmaker.

Tommaso's feature-length documentary, Postcards From India, marked a significant milestone in his career, following the success of his earlier short film, "Akil – Awareness," which was realized in collaboration with Dr. Michael P. Hoffman, an anthropologist from the Max Planck Institute. This groundbreaking film shed light on the resurgence of bonded labor, known as "Kamayia," in Nepal.

Tommaso's work is characterized by his innovative use of visual media and performance to explore and describe a wide range of human behaviors and cultures. His particular interest lies in human and social (self) development, which is reflected in his diverse range of projects and collaborations.

As a researcher, Tommaso's expertise in anthropology has allowed him to delve deep into the complexities of human societies, often using his camera as a tool to capture the essence of his subjects.
