Tom Provost graduated with honors from The University of Texas at Austin's prestigious Plan II Honors program, where he majestically balanced his academic pursuits in English Literature and Film.
After his academic triumph, Tom relocated to Los Angeles, where he has been diligently working as a writer, director, editor, and actor. He has also had the privilege of waiting tables, an experience that has undoubtedly honed his skills in the art of multitasking.
Tom's professional journey took a significant turn when he was hired by Revelations, Morgan Freeman's production company, to adapt a script for the film "Under Suspicion". The screenplay, which he co-wrote with Academy Award Winner Gene Hackman, was later nominated for an Edgar Award.
As a filmmaker, Tom has also directed the genre-twisting ghost story "The Presence", which he also wrote and produced. The film boasts an impressive cast, including Academy Award-winning actress Mira Sorvino, Shane West, Golden Globe Nominee Justin Kirk, and Tony Curran. "The Presence" received widespread acclaim on the festival circuit, winning numerous awards, including Best Picture and Best Director. The film was subsequently picked up by Lionsgate and released in Fall 2011.
Beyond his work in the film industry, Tom is a graduate screenwriting professor at Pepperdine University in Malibu, where he shares his expertise with aspiring screenwriters. He is also a sought-after script doctor and consultant, working with clients to refine their screenplays and bring their stories to life.
In addition to his teaching and consulting work, Tom is also a popular instructor of the "Cinema Language: The Art Of Storytelling" series, which he teaches in both Los Angeles and around the country. He often collaborates with Mark Stolaroff's "No Budget Film School" to share his knowledge and expertise with aspiring filmmakers.
