Thomas Jerome "Tom" Fugle, a renowned craftsman and legendary biker, was born in 1941 in Sioux City, Iowa. He was the son of Salmer and Bernadine (Schumacher) Fugle, and attended Central High School in Sioux City, where he likely developed his passion for motorcycles.
In 1969, Tom married Connie Anderson, with whom he had a daughter, Natasha. However, the couple later divorced. Tom then started dating Jennie DeCora on July 4, 1998, and the two eventually tied the knot on October 23, 2016.
As a pioneer in the world of choppers, Tom Fugle co-founded and served as the undisputed president of the El Forastero Motorcycle Club. His journey as a motorcycle enthusiast began in 1961, when he purchased a Harley-Davidson dresser with 3,000 miles on it for a whopping $800. This bike would later become the foundation for his first chopper build. Tom would go on to build many more bikes throughout his career, including his final ride, an Evolution chopper.
Tom's remarkable story has been featured in several documentaries, including "21 Days Under The Sun," which premiered on Netflix in May 2016, and "The History Of The Chopper," produced by Jesse James. Additionally, the 8 mm documentary "EFMC" offers a glimpse into the rituals of the El Forastero Motorcycle Club during the late 1960s.
