Tom Davies, a multifaceted individual with a storied past, was born in Evanston, Illinois, a city that would serve as the catalyst for his future endeavors. His educational journey commenced at Maine East High School in Park Ridge, Illinois, where he honed his skills on the football field, albeit with less than stellar results.
Undeterred, Davies pursued higher education at the University of Illinois, followed by a move to Arizona, where he graduated from Arizona State University (ASU). During his formative years at ASU, he worked at the local PBS station, an experience that would ignite a passion for the film industry within him.
Upon graduation, Davies embarked on a cross-country road trip to Los Angeles, behind the wheel of his trusty Chevy Vega. Unfortunately, the vehicle's engine met an untimely demise upon arrival, leaving Davies to navigate the city in search of a new set of wheels. His degree, however, qualified him to drive a taxi in Hollywood, a occupation that would provide him with a unique perspective on the city's underbelly.
Davies' entry into the film industry was a serendipitous one, as he landed a gofer job at Alan Landsberg Productions. His hard work and dedication eventually earned him a position as a production assistant (PA) on TV movies and mini-series, and he went on to join the Directors Guild of America (DGA) as a second assistant director (AD).
Since then, Davies has worked as an AD continuously, his passion for the craft evident in every project he has undertaken. When not behind the camera, Davies can be found indulging in his lifelong love of cars, a hobby that has seen him race sports cars and restore classic vehicles. His dual citizenship, granted by both the United States and Canada, is a testament to his enduring connection to both nations.
