Todor Chapkanov, a highly accomplished film and television director, earned his Master's Degree in TV & Film Directing from the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts "Krastyo Sarafov" in the year 2000.
Between 2001 and 2018, Chapkanov worked as a First Assistant Director and Second Unit Director on over 50 films, including notable titles such as "The Way Back", "Barbarian", "Hitman's Bodyguard", and "London Has Fallen".
Since making his directorial debut in 2007, Chapkanov has directed a diverse range of films and TV series, including the highly acclaimed Bulgarian period drama "Tree of Life". In 2015, he directed the sports action movie "Boyka: Undisputed" for Millennium Films.
From 2016 to 2018, Chapkanov served as the Show Runner and Main Director of the Bulgarian TV series "Dear Heirs", which held the top spot as the highest rated prime-time show on national television.
Following the completion of a few Romantic Comedies for Free Dolphin and Second Unit work on "Expendables 4", Chapkanov traveled to Amsterdam to direct the Action/Thriller "Black Lotus" for Dutch Filmworks and Capstone. The film premiered in April 2023.
In 2024, Chapkanov's latest theatrical release was the Serbian sports-drama "Megdan: Between Water and Fire".
Throughout his illustrious career, Chapkanov has directed over 15 movies, numerous TV series, TV shows, commercials, and music videos.
