Toby's acting career began at Northern Illinois University, where he was deeply immersed in the world of theater, studying voice, movement, and the Meisner Acting Technique. During his time at the university, he had the opportunity to perform numerous times on stage.
Following his graduation, Toby went on to perform on stage in Dublin, Ireland, and in various productions around Chicago. He eventually made the decision to pack his bags and head to Los Angeles, where he began auditioning and started to work.
Toby's big break came when he starred in the Paramount Pictures film "A Separate Peace", directed by two-time Academy Award-nominated director Peter Yates and produced by Oscar-winning producers Michael Sugar and Dustin Hoffman. He had the privilege of performing alongside legendary actor and Oscar nominee Hume Cronyn, who received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Performer for his final performance.
The film "A Separate Peace" received several Emmy nominations and won the Best Script award at the Writers Guild Awards. It is widely shown in high school literature classes across America.
Toby has also been involved with the Ruskin Theater Company in Santa Monica, California, where he trained again in the Meisner Approach to Acting. He has performed on stage many times, including in a lead role opposite Olivia D'abo in the Ruskin Theater's production of "Cyrano De Bergerac", in which he played the role of Christian.
Throughout his career, Toby has had the opportunity to work with a wide range of talented actors and actresses, including Katie Holmes, Maggie Grace, Forest Whitaker, Robert Forrester, Christopher Meloni, Gary Cole, Mariska Hartigay, Allison Pill, and David Caruso. He recently starred in Jameson Den Hartogs' short film "MICAL", shot on location in Chicago, and is set to star in "Serah", alongside Gilles Marini and directed by Timothy Hines.
Toby is also attached to play the lead in "Playing with the Enemy" and "The Final Service", both written and directed by Oscar-winning director Keith Merrill.
