Biography

Tim Taylor's Early Life and Career

Born in Philadelphia, Tim Taylor grew up in Southern California, where he developed a passion for the performing arts from an early age. He began taking the stage in elementary school, regularly participating in talent shows, singing and acting skits, and even starring in productions such as "The Mikado" and "A Christmas Carol".

College Years and Early Acting Career

During his college years, Taylor studied Method acting with Eric Morris, a renowned acting coach. He also began acting in films, honing his craft and building his experience. By 1989, Taylor had joined the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) after appearing in a series of Nishika Camera commercials alongside Vincent Price.

The 1990s and a Move to the North

In the 1990s, Taylor found work as a regular extra on the TV show "Pacific Station", starring John Hancock and Joel Murray. However, after the show was cancelled, he struggled to find consistent work in Los Angeles. In 1993, he made the decision to move north, where he was serendipitously cast as TOM in a production of "The Glass Menagerie" at the Paradise Theater on the Ridge.

Life in the North and a Return to Los Angeles

During his time in the North, Taylor not only acted in various productions but also constructed stage sets for local community and high school theaters. He also served as the announcer for NPR's "A Classical Concert". Eventually, he returned to Los Angeles, where he registered with Central Casting as a "special" hire and went on to land over 100 featured extra parts on major TV shows and films, including "ER", "Chicago Hope", "Diagnosis Murder", and "Charmed".

Education and Continued Acting Career

As his career plateaued, Taylor decided to pursue an MFA in Acting for Film, which he completed in 2012. This led to new opportunities, including a role as the villain "Dr. Dragmar" in the children's movie "Dognapped" and several principle roles in other films. He also filmed a small role in the movie "Out for Vengeance" in 2015, although the film remains in post-production.

Recent Projects and Personal Life

In 2019, Taylor worked on a documentary about his sculpture, "Finding the Artifacts", which is also currently in post-production. Today, Taylor resides on a Pacific Island, where he operates an art and sound studio (Jungle Gem, Inc). He enjoys scuba diving and engaging in year-round outdoor physical activity in the clean, fresh air of his tropical surroundings.
