Tim Gray is a renowned documentary film director, producer, and writer, hailing from Rhode Island. Throughout his illustrious career, he has produced and directed an impressive 40 documentary films that focus on the personal stories of the World War II generation.
As a testament to his dedication and expertise, all of Tim's films have been broadcast nationally on American Public Television, with global airings in countries such as China, Australia, France, and England. His film work has garnered six regional Emmy Awards for writing and documentary filmmaking.
Tim's extensive travels have taken him to various historical sites around the world, including Guadalcanal, Corregidor, Iwo Jima, Peleliu, Bataan, Manila, Guam, the Philippines, the Solomon Islands, the Russell Islands, Banika, Japan, Pearl Harbor, Normandy, France, Italy, Austria, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Germany.
In 2012, the World War II Foundation, founded by Tim Gray, dedicated the Richard D. Winters Leadership Monument in Normandy, France, a project honoring American leadership on D-Day. The monument, a 13-foot-high statue, was approved by the late Major Richard D. Winters of WWII's Band of Brothers and was attended by over 1,000 people, including the current commanding general of the 101st Airborne Division and former Secretary of Homeland Security, Gov. Tom Ridge.
Tim has held numerous fundraisers with the actors from the Band of Brothers television series to benefit the World War II Foundation, both in the United States and internationally. He has received several national and international awards for his WWII films, including American Public Television's National Programming Excellence Award and five Indie Fest International Awards.
Prior to his work in documentary filmmaking, Tim worked as a television sports and news anchor and reporter for over 15 years in various states and U.S. markets, including Michigan, Washington State, Florida, New York, and Providence. In 2000, he was appointed weekend sports anchor and sports/news reporter at Ch. 10 in Providence, an NBC affiliate, a position he held until 2004. During his time in Fort Myers, FL, Tim was designated sportscaster-of-the-year by the Florida Sportscaster's Association and a top feature reporter.
Tim holds a degree in Journalism from the University of Rhode Island. His project work has been featured on numerous platforms, including The Today Show, MSNBC, Fox News, Discovery Channel's Orange County Choppers, CNN, C-Span, PBS stations around the country, the United States Armed Forces Radio Network, and in newspapers such as USA Today and the Boston Globe, among many others.
