Tim Curnen is a multifaceted creative professional with a diverse range of expertise in the film industry. He has worked as a screenwriter, film editor, and film teacher, with a long list of notable projects under his belt.
As a screenwriter, Tim has written screenplays for major studios such as 20th Century-Fox, Universal Pictures, Interscope Communications, Walt Disney Productions, New World Pictures, Ed Pressman Films, and others. Some of his notable titles include Forbidden World for New World Pictures, Ghost Warrior for Empire Productions, and Supreme Warrior, a full-motion video interactive game for Digital Pictures that won the BIMA Gold Medal for Best Game of the Year.
In addition to his work as a screenwriter, Tim has also worked extensively as a film editor. He co-edited the film The Rehearsal, directed by Jules Dassin and starring Melina Mercouri, Laurence Olivier, Maximilian Schell, and Olympia Dukakis. Tim also edited the award-winning documentary Inside Out Saving Our Urban Upper Schools, directed by Jack Robertson for the Ford Foundation/PBS. He has worked with several other notable directors and producers, including the Maysles Brothers, on various projects.
Tim has also collaborated with White Oak Associates on several special-venue mixed-media productions, including The World of Shakespeare, a major installation at the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh, Exploration Place in Wichita, and the Bunker Hill Pavilion in Boston.
In recent years, Tim was an Associate Professor of Screenwriting at the USC School of Cinematic Arts in Los Angeles. He has also taught filmmaking extensively at the NYU Tisch School of the Arts and the UCLA Extension Writers' Program, where he was honored with the Outstanding Instructor Award for his screenwriting classes. Tim retired in 2019 and now divides his time between Los Angeles and Carmel Valley, California.
