The New York City Breakers, a renowned Breaking crew, was founded by the visionary Michael Holman, previously known as the Floor Masters. Their origins were inspired by the electrifying Lincoln Center battle between the Rock Steady Crew and The Dynamic Rockers. The original members of the New York City Breakers were a talented group of individuals, consisting of "Action" (Chino Lopez),a skilled breaker; "Kid Nice" (Noel Manguel),known for his exceptional breaking abilities; "Glide Master" (Matthew Caban),a master of smooth, gliding movements; "Lil Lep" (Ray Ramos),a young and talented breaker; "Mr. Wave" (Tony Droughan),a breaker with a unique, wavy style; "Icey Ice" (Cory Montalvo),a breaker with a cool, ice-like demeanor; "Powerful Pexter" (Tony Lopez),a breaker with immense power and strength; and Flip Rock (Bobby Potts),a breaker with the ability to flip and spin with ease. The New York City Breakers' first major exposure came in 1982, when they were offered the opportunity to battle the legendary Rock Steady Crew in New York City at the popular nightclub, Negril.
