Thai Minh Ngo, a Vietnamese American rapper/actor, was born in Nashville, Tennessee, to Nga Huynh. He is the middle child of three brothers, and his father left the family when Thai was young. His mother raised him and his brothers, working multiple jobs to provide for them.
Thai's childhood was marked by struggle and hardship. When he was seven, his father kissed him goodbye and left, leaving Thai with emotional scars. His family moved to San Jose, California, where his mother found work at a restaurant. However, life did not improve, and Thai's mother worked multiple jobs to care for her family.
At a young age, Thai began to roam the streets, searching for acceptance and getting involved with Asian gangs. After finishing the 6th grade, his mother moved the family to a new city, where Thai started a new school. He struggled to make friends and found solace in music, rapping over instrumentals and developing his own unique style.
As he grew older, Thai continued to hang out with the same crowd, getting involved in gang activity and eventually getting arrested for his involvement in a gang shooting. He was put on probation and felt blessed to be given a second chance. However, he returned to his old ways, getting involved in countless shootings and fights.
Despite his troubled past, Thai continued to pursue his passion for music, recording his debut EP "Portland Love" and his first full-length album "Together We Rize". He has since released two more albums, "My Life & Rhymes" and "Vietnamese Gang", and has collaborated with other well-known rap artists.
Throughout his life, Thai has been inspired by famous musicians such as Michael Jackson, Boyz ll Men, and Stevie B, as well as early rap artists like 2Pac, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Eazy-E, Twista, and Deathrow. He has also been compared to 2Pac, with many calling him an Asian version of the hip hop legend.
Thai's life story is one of struggle and redemption, and his music reflects his experiences and emotions. He continues to make music and perform, using his platform to share his story and inspire others.
