Terry Keli Chen was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and spent his formative years moving around, primarily growing up in Alberta and on the West coast. Despite dropping out of the University of Calgary, he embarked on a two-year journey of self-discovery, traveling extensively throughout Cuba and the Cayman Islands. Subsequently, Terry relocated to Vancouver, British Columbia, driven by his passion for acting.
In his inaugural year of auditioning, he secured a supporting role as 'Ben Fong-Torres' in the highly acclaimed film Almost Famous, directed by the renowned Cameron Crowe. Over the next two decades, Terry has consistently delivered outstanding performances in various supporting and lead roles, collaborating with some of the industry's most esteemed professionals. His notable credits include Memory, The A-Team, and Elysium, among many others.
Terry's impressive resume also features his work as a series regular in the ABC drama Combat Hospital, where he played the role of US Captain Dr. Bobby Trang. He has also recurred in the fan-favorite series Continuum and had a recurring role in the second season of the award-winning Netflix series House of Cards. Terry's strong performances continued with his portrayal of Prax, a brave father and botanist, in the critically acclaimed series The Expanse on Amazon. Additionally, he played a lead role in the second season of Jessica Jones for Marvel/Netflix and co-starred in the poignant four-part limited series Chimerica on Channel4.
Recently, Terry starred alongside Viggo Mortenson in the critically acclaimed feature film Falling, which premiered at Sundance in 2020. He has also been heavily recurring on ABC's A Million Little Things, opposite the talented Grace Park. Terry's upcoming project features him as the lead in the inspiring feature film Sight, based on the true story of Dr. Ming Wang, who escaped poverty, oppression, and violence to become the world's most influential eye surgeon.
Now, Terry divides his time between Los Angeles and Vancouver, continuously seeking out compelling and unique characters to bring to life.
