Biography

Tenniel Evans embarked on a brief stint at the prestigious British Army officer training centre, Sandhurst, in 1945, where he spent a year honing his skills before moving on to pursue his academic interests. From 1946 to 1949, he studied German and economics at St. Andrews University, further developing his intellectual prowess.

After completing his university education, Evans attended the renowned Royal Academy of Dramatic Art from 1949 to 1951, where he refined his acting abilities. He began his stage career in 1951, although he also held a part-time job as a private school teacher near Northampton.

Throughout his stage career, Evans appeared in various productions, including West End performances, as well as with the Royal Court Theatre Company, Savoy Theatre, and Globe Theatre. His impressive repertoire also included the popular 1960s radio comedy "The Navy Lark".

In addition to his stage work, Evans made his television debut in 1960 and went on to appear in numerous productions. He is fondly remembered by cult television fans for his roles as Major Daly in Carnival of Monsters: Episode One (1973),opposite his friend Jon Pertwee, and as Kevin's (Michael Palin's) puritanical father in The Curse of the Claw (1977).
