Biography

Tenma Shibuya, born on January 13, 1969, is a Japanese actor, classical dancer, and cultural exchange activist who has made a significant impact in the entertainment industry.

Starting his acting career in 1993 after returning from the United States, Tenma Shibuya quickly gained recognition in Japan, appearing in numerous films, stage productions, and TV series. One of his notable roles was in the director Yukio Ninagawa's theater "Romio and Juliet" in 1998. He also starred in the films "Agitator" (2002) and "Appleseed" (2004) as the villain Uranus, utilizing his motion capturing skills.

In 2006, Tenma Shibuya expanded his acting career to China, making his debut in the film "Flying Tigers" in 2007. He then went on to star in the Hong Kong kung fu film "Ip Man" in 2008, playing a memorable villain. The following year, he appeared in the film "The Flowers of War" alongside Christian Bale, directed by Zhang Yimou. He also played a villain in the Chinese TV series "Borrow Gun", which held the record for the highest revenue in Chinese TV shows at the time.

Tenma Shibuya's impressive resume continued to grow, with roles in Taiwanese film "Kano" (2014),Russian TV series "Sorge", and multinational production "Air Strike" (2018),starring Bruce Willis and Adrien Brody. In 2019, he starred in the film "Saturday Fiction" alongside Gong Li, directed by Lou Ye.

In addition to his acting career, Tenma Shibuya has been the president of a Chinese media production company from 2012 to 2017, handling copyright deals between China and Japan. He has also been a Japanese classical dancer and songwriter for over twenty years, and has volunteered in international cultural exchange activities for over thirty years.

As a result of his dedication and hard work, Tenma Shibuya has appeared in over 100 works of films, TV series, and stages in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the U.S. Today, he is recognized as one of the most well-known Japanese actors in Greater China.
