Taran Davies is a unique individual, being the offspring of American and British parents, which has allowed him to experience a rich cultural upbringing, with exposure to both the United States and the United Kingdom.
His educational background is equally impressive, having attended the prestigious Eton College and subsequently Harvard University, where he earned his degree in 1993.
In 1994, Davies created his first film documentary, "Around the Sacred Sea", which chronicled a captivating journey around Lake Baikal in Siberia. This marked the beginning of his journey as a producer and director, with the majority of his films focusing on Islam and the Islamic world, despite not being a Muslim himself.
However, Davies didn't let his passion for film-making consume his life, instead, he took a regular job in banking in 1996, while continuing to work on film projects in his free time. This duality continued until 2001, when he was residing in New York City and witnessed the devastating September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center firsthand.
This life-changing event had a profound impact on Davies, inspiring him to dedicate himself to film-making as a full-time profession and to educate Western audiences about the Islamic world, its culture, and its people.
