Tara Garwood is an accomplished and award-winning filmmaker, and the owner of Tarakata Films, a production company that specializes in telling women's stories through the lens of horror. With a background in acting and as the former Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director of a horror theatre company, Garwood brings a unique perspective to her work as a director, writer, and producer.
Her short films, including "Lonely", "The Lake", and "The Strangle of Ivy", have been showcased at numerous film festivals, with "The Lake" and "The Strangle of Ivy" receiving accolades for their independent short film, directing, acting, and other categories. Garwood's impressive track record also includes winning the Hayes Horror Workshop competition, and she is currently being mentored on her first feature film by the Hayes Brothers, the writers of the highly acclaimed "The Conjuring".
In addition to her work behind the camera, Garwood is also a talented actor and voice over artist, with credits in several Hollywood films, including "The Invasion" alongside Nicole Kidman, "My One and Only" with Renee Zellweger, and John Waters' "Cecil B. DeMented". Her extensive filmography also includes numerous industrials and independent films, including the campy horror movie "Women's Studies", in which she plays a homicidal psycho with a feminist agenda.
