Biography

Sybrina Fulton has spent her life translating personal tragedy into profound social change. Following the devastating loss of her 17-year-old son, Trayvon Martin, whose life was cut short in a violent altercation in 2012, Fulton has emerged as a powerful voice for parents and concerned citizens nationwide. Her book, co-authored with Tracy Martin, "Rest in Power: The Enduring Life of Trayvon Martin," is a poignant and intimate portrayal of a life tragically cut short and the remarkable movement that shook the nation's conscience awake.

Despite the overwhelming pain of losing a child, Fulton has become a beacon of hope for many by channeling her grief into tireless advocacy. She uses her voice to passionately speak out against violence towards children and the urgent need to build safer, more compassionate communities for all.

Born and raised in Miami, Fulton earned a bachelor's degree in English from Florida Memorial University. A devoted mother, she spent over 25 years working for the Miami-Dade County Housing Development Agency before becoming a full-time advocate for social change. Fulton is a proud member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Miami Gardens.
