Swati Gupte Bhise has led a life of remarkable diversity, splitting her time between India and New York for the past 33 years. Throughout this period, she has played a multitude of roles, with her primary vocation being that of an ambassador of Indian culture. Recently, she has founded two significant organizations, one in New York and the other in Goa, with the aim of promoting Indian arts, literature, music, and philosophy.
One of her most notable endeavors is the establishment of Sanskriti, a non-profit organization that has successfully introduced classical Indian arts, with a particular emphasis on performing arts, literature, music, and philosophy, to over 100 public and private schools within the New York City metropolitan area. Additionally, Sanskriti sponsors visiting artists from India, providing a platform for cultural exchange and enrichment.
In India, she launched the Sadir Theater Festival, a unique and thought-provoking platform that celebrates global theater. Over the course of her lifetime, she has been a leading exponent of the classical Indian dance form of Bharatanatyam, as well as a choreographer and teacher. Her impressive credentials include serving as an artist in residence at Lincoln Center and numerous leading American universities.
She has also hosted TV talk shows, shedding light on various cultural aspects, and has served as a moderator on museum panels. Guided by the principles of India's rich heritage, she firmly believes in the Guru-Shishya parampara, the traditional Indian model of mentoring, which emphasizes the importance of knowledge transmission from one generation to the next.
Currently, she resides in both New York and Goa with her husband, entrepreneur and philanthropist Bharat Bhisé, her mother, and their four canine companions, consisting of two Dobermans and two Boxers.
