Suzanne Whang was a multifaceted individual with a diverse range of talents and accomplishments. She was a valedictorian of her graduating class at Herndon High School, where she gave the invocation at the graduation ceremony. She later graduated from the acting program at the William Esper Studio in New York City, and also studied with renowned acting coaches such as Milton Katselas, Richard Lawson, Gary Imhoff, and Jeffrey Tambor at the Beverly Hills Playhouse.
As an actor, Suzanne appeared in numerous television series, including recurring roles on Las Vegas and Cold Case, as well as guest starring roles on Two and a Half Men, Boston Legal, and Nip/Tuck. She also appeared in several feature films, including Constantine and Traci Townsend. She starred in the short film Seoul Mates, which won awards at the Los Angeles 48 Hour Film Festival.
In addition to her acting career, Suzanne was a successful television host. She hosted House Hunters on HGTV for almost 10 years, and also hosted its spin-off show, House Hunters International. She hosted several other shows on HGTV, including Blitz Build 2000, The Making of the Rose Parade 2005, and The Making of the Rose Parade 2006.
Suzanne was also an accomplished comedian, winning the First Annual Andy Kaufman Award at the New York Comedy Festival. She was recognized for her courage, creativity, originality, and humor by the festival judges, and was guaranteed a spot on Comedy Central's Premium Blend. She also won Best Up & Coming Comedian at the Las Vegas Comedy Festival, and performed at numerous comedy clubs across the country.
Suzanne held a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Yale University and a Master's degree in Cognitive Psychology from Brown University. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer in 2011 and given only six months to live, but she defied the odds and lived for eight years longer before passing away in 2019 after a brave battle with the disease.
