Biography

Susan Rohrer's illustrious career as a director began with an adaptation of James Weldon Johnson's celebrated work, God's Trombones, prior to helming 100 episodes of the acclaimed drama Another Life.

Rohrer's subsequent projects included producing and directing four specials for CBS, one for ABC, as well as the television movies For Jenny With Love and Mother's Day for the Family Channel.

She further directed six episodes of the teen comedy Sweet Valley High, as well as the pilot Dojo Kids, and produced/directed/wrote the CBS sponsored movie About Sarah, sharing a teleplay and writing the PAX television movies Another Pretty Face and Book of Days.

Rohrer's projects have garnered numerous industry accolades and nominations, including an Emmy Award for Never Say Goodbye, as well as three additional personal Emmy nominations in the outstanding producing, directing, and writing categories for Terrible Things My Mother Told Me, The Emancipation of Lizzie Stern, and If I Die Before I Wake.

Rohrer directed Academy Award winner Mary Steenburgen to a SAG Award nomination for About Sarah, which received The Christopher Award, The Film Advisory Board's Award of Excellence, and "Best in Festival" at the Breckenridge Festival of Film, and was a finalist for the Media Access Awards.

Rohrer co-executive produced, co-wrote the finale, and directed the entire first season of the television series These Stones, set to premiere in 2024.

Throughout her career, Rohrer's work has been recognized with honors by the NEA, the American Women In Radio and Television's Public Service Award, the Angel Awards, the CINE Golden Eagle Awards, and has received three NAACP Image Award nominations, including Best Television Movie and two Best Actor nominations for Denise Nicholas and Malcolm-Jamal Warner.

Rohrer is an active member of SAG-AFTRA, the Writers Guild of America (honorably withdrawn),and the Directors Guild of America (active member for 24 years, 1997-2022, and DGA Financial Core as of 2022).
