Biography

Suraj Venjaramoodu is a renowned Indian actor, comedian, television presenter, and impressionist who has starred in over 250 films. Born to a retired Indian Army soldier, his eldest brother is also a part of the Indian Army. Despite his desire to join the army, a bike accident prevented him from doing so.

Venjaramoodu pursued a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Government ITI, Attingal, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. He began his career as a stand-up comedian, making his debut with the spoof Malayalam film Jagapoga in 2002.

He went on to act in a series of films, including Rasikan, Bus Conductor, Achuvinte Amma, and Rasathanthram. However, his breakthrough came with the film Thuruppu Gulan in 2006, where he played the accomplice of Mammootty. This was followed by a string of hit films, including Classmates, Chota Mumbai, and Mayavi.

Venjaramoodu's first prominent role as a side character was in Mayavi in 2007. He then acted in Annan Thambi and Lollipop in 2008, receiving appreciation for his performances. His first film as the protagonist was Duplicate in 2009, followed by Chattambinadu, Pokkiri Raja, and many others.

In 2010, he starred in Kaaryasthan, Chinatown, and Teja Bhai and Teja Bhai and Family. He won a National award for his role in Names Unknown in 2014. His cameo appearance in Action Hero Biju in 2016 received critical acclaim.

After this, he started pursuing more serious roles, starring in films like Karingunnam 6's, Oru Muthassi Gadha, and Pulimurugan. In 2018, he played the protagonist in Varnyathil Aashanka and Kuttanpillayude Sivarathri. He also starred in Vikruthi and Android Kunjappan Ver 5.25 in 2019.

Venjaramoodu has received numerous awards throughout his career, including the National Film Award for Best Actor for Perariyathavar in 2013. He has also won four awards in the Kerala State Film Awards, three for Best Comedian and one for Best Actor.
