Sunitha, a renowned Indian classical dancer, is also known by her alternative names Kodai Mazhai Vidya and Vidyasree. From a tender age of three, she began her journey in the world of dance, eventually performing her arangetram at the age of eleven. The traditional 'Gurukul' system allowed her to receive her training in the Vazhuvoor style of Bharatanatyam from the esteemed Padmashree Vazhuvoor Ramaiyya Pillai and his son Kalaimamani Vazhuvoor R.Samaraj.
Throughout her illustrious career, Sunitha has performed over 200 dance recitals globally, sharing the stage with notable celebrities such as Amitabh Bachchan, Mamooty, Mohanlal, and Vineeth. Her dedication to her craft has been unwavering, and she continues to captivate audiences with her mesmerizing performances.
As the owner and artistic director of the Nrithyanjali School of Dance in the United States, Sunitha has made significant contributions to the cultural landscape of South Carolina over the past decade. Her tireless efforts to promote and preserve classical Indian dance have earned her a special place in the hearts of the local community.
Born to Venugopal Shivaramakrishnan and Bhuvana in Andhra Pradesh, Sunitha married Raj in 1996 and welcomed her son, Shashaank, in 1998. Currently, she resides in South Carolina with her family, continuing to spread the beauty and richness of Indian classical dance to audiences around the world.
