Biography

Stjepan Hauser, professionally known as HAUSER, is a renowned Croatian cellist born on June 15, 1986, in Pula, Croatia. Growing up in a musical family, Hauser began his musical education at a young age and went on to study in Zagreb before completing his undergraduate studies at Trinity College of Music in London.

Hauser's musical training continued with postgraduate studies at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and the University of the USA, where he was a Dorothy Stone Scholar. This rigorous education has clearly paid off, as Hauser has gone on to perform in over 40 countries, debuting in prestigious venues such as the Wigmore Hall, Royal Albert Hall, and Amsterdam Concertgebouw, among many others.

In October 2006, Hauser was honored to perform at the gala at Palazzo Vecchio in Florence in memory of the late Mstislav Rostropovich. This appearance led to numerous festival invitations across Europe, including the International Holland Music Sessions in 2009, where he participated in the "New Masters on Tour" concert series.

Hauser has also performed and recorded as a solo artist, including his recording of Christopher Ball's First Concerto for Cello, which was written specifically for him. This album, Christopher Ball: Music for Cello, features former Greenwich Trio member Yoko Misumi on piano and was recorded at the first live performance of the concerto in 2010.

In addition to his solo work, Hauser is also a member of the duo 2CELLOS, alongside Luka Šulić. The pair has gained international recognition for their unique blend of classical and pop music. In January 2011, Hauser and Šulić released a cover of Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal" played solely on cello, which quickly became a YouTube sensation.

In September 2022, Hauser's YouTube channel had reached over 680 million views, a testament to his dedication to his craft and his ability to connect with audiences worldwide. In 2020, Hauser released his album Hauser Classic, featuring the London Symphony Orchestra, which was produced by Nick Patrick. Throughout his career, Hauser has demonstrated his versatility and talent as a cellist, and his music continues to inspire and delight fans around the globe.
