Biography of James Gillilan:
James Gillilan's acting career began shortly after graduating from Boston University's College of Fine Arts in 1986, when he moved to New York to pursue his dreams. His early roles included "Jason" on ABC's popular soap opera "One Life to Live" and "Billy" in Rolland Howe's feature film "The First Killing Frost".
Gillilan continued to take on various acting roles, including the World Premiere of his play "The Bee" at Art Continent, where he played the parts of Jack/Queen. The play was later recast and premiered at The Duplex in NYC. He also starred in the theatrical production of his play "Jealous God", which he later re-cast and played a supporting role in when he directed the feature film adaptation in 1995.
For the next six years, Gillilan dedicated himself to writing scripts, accumulating a substantial body of work. In 2001, he returned to filmmaking by writing, directing, and producing the thriller "The Fall Before Paradise", which received glowing reviews and was released worldwide in 2004. Since then, he has created numerous documentaries and doc-dramas while freelancing as a writer, director, and producer.
In 2017, Gillilan has been working on the thought-provoking documentary/thriller "Designed to Kill", which sheds light on the alarming trend of radicalization and is narrated using the actual words of the killers. The film aims to inspire unity and solidarity for the greater good that must always prevail.
