Biography

Steven Andrews, an American-born, English-taught actor and classically trained tenor, has recently made a significant breakthrough in the major motion picture and television industry after gaining experience in independent film, opera, musical theatre, jazz clubs, and the New York stage.

Born into a centuries-old family lineage in the Ohio Valley, Steve developed an interest in the arts from a young age. He spent his grade school years honing his talents through various experiences in musical theatre, classical stage performances, visual art, voice-over, dance, screenwriting, and instrumental music.

Andrews then attended the renowned Cleveland Institute of Music for a foundation year of training before moving to New York City to begin his career. He worked under the guidance of Ruth Kulerman, a Juilliard graduate, English-schooled actress, and Princeton University professor of Literature, who ran a highly selective private studio after over five decades of work in motion pictures and on Broadway and West End stages.

As a specialist in historic and period performance, Andrews has a decade of training in stunt, historic and modern firearms handling, equestrian, and stage fight skills to supplement his nearly sixteen years of acting and classical and contemporary music study.

Andrews' early career included an intensive 30-day shoot in West Virginia as one of twelve principal background performers in J.J. Abrams' thriller 'Super 8'. During this time, he received hours of immersion training and formed lasting friendships with members of the cast and crew, who affectionately referred to him as "Doc Hollywood" after the lesser-known 1991 Michael J. Fox film.

In 2015, Andrews made his Major Motion Picture Principal debut opposite Rooney Mara in 'Carol', acclaimed director Todd Haynes' forthcoming adaptation of the Patricia Highsmith novel "The Price of Salt", also starring Cate Blanchett, Kyle Chandler, and Sarah Paulson.
