Steve Sandor, a towering figure with a robust physique, was born on October 27, 1937, in the vibrant city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Growing up in the Greenfield neighborhood, he developed a strong sense of determination and resilience, which would later serve him well in his illustrious acting career.
Before pursuing his passion for acting, Steve served as an Air Policeman in the US Air Force, where he honed his skills by selling copy machines and training sentry dogs. It was during this period that he discovered his knack for playing complex characters, often taking on roles that showcased his rugged good looks, imposing presence, and intense screen presence.
As his acting career took off in the late 1960s, Steve quickly established himself as a versatile and formidable talent, effortlessly transitioning between film and television. His most notable film roles include Apache, a rough-around-the-edges biker in Hell's Angels '69 (1969); Billy Joe, an unstable drifter in The Only Way Home (1972); Ollie Hand, a traumatized Vietnam veteran in The No Mercy Man (1973); and Jack "The White Knight" Braden, an arrogant heavyweight wrestling champion in the offbeat made-for-TV movie Mad Bull (1977).
Steve's impressive repertoire also includes the titular role in the low-rent post-nuke sci-fi/action dud Stryker (1983),as well as legendary frontiersman Jim Bowie in Alamo: The Price of Freedom (1988). Furthermore, he lent his voice to the heroic warrior Dark Wolf in Ralph Bakshi's animated fantasy adventure treat Fire and Ice (1983).
In addition to his impressive filmography, Steve made numerous guest appearances on popular television shows, including Star Trek (1966),Gunsmoke (1955),Ironside (1967),The Streets of San Francisco (1972),Baretta (1975),Starsky and Hutch (1975),Charlie's Angels (1976),Fantasy Island (1977),CHiPs (1977),Three's Company (1976),Vega$ (1978),T.J.
