Steve relocated to Los Angeles, marking the beginning of his illustrious film career, which started with a teen-aged slasher flick, Sweet Sixteen, in 1983, opposite the talented Bo Hopkins. The following year, he stole the hearts of many with his performance in The Last American Virgin, a popular Cannon-produced film, alongside Lawrence Monoson.
He went on to secure roles in The Goonies, a beloved adventure film, and Survival Quest, a thrilling movie that should have been his big break. However, his career-defining moment came when he co-starred alongside Jodie Foster and Kelly McGillis in the Academy Award-winning film, The Accused, playing a fraternity undergraduate involved in a bar room rape incident.
Steve's impressive filmography continued to grow, with notable appearances in Sandra Bernhard's screen adaptation of her hit one-woman Broadway show, Without You I'm Nothing, as well as roles in Drive, It's My Party, and the romantic comedy-drama, 'Til There Was You.
In addition to his acting career, Steve has also explored his creative side by dabbling in writing and producing. He starred opposite Bo Hopkins once again and an all-star cast in the independent film, Inside Monkey Zetterland, in 1992. Furthermore, Steve adapted the screenplay for Gloria, a 1999 film starring Sharon Stone and George C. Scott, based on the 1980 version by John Cassavetes.
