Stephen Irwin is a renowned British animation director and writer, whose films have garnered immense acclaim and recognition. His cinematic creations have been showcased at over 100 international film festivals, including three prestigious appearances at the Sundance Film Festival.
As a graduate of Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, Irwin's talent and dedication have earned him numerous accolades. His films have been broadcast on prominent television channels such as Channel 4 in the UK and Canal+ Spain, and he has received commissions and grants from esteemed organizations like the BBC, UK Film Council/Film London, Animate Projects/Arts Council England, Channel 4, Rooftop Films, and the British Film Institute.
In 2018, Irwin made his mark by writing his first feature-length screenplay, supported by Creative England and the BFI NETWORK through their Emerging Talent Fund.
Throughout his career, Irwin has received an impressive array of awards, including the Grand Prize at the Ottawa International Animation Festival for Moxie, the Silver Dragon at the Krakow Film Festival for The Obvious Child, which also qualified for the Oscars. The Black Dog's Progress won the Best Short Film award at the British Animation Awards.
Wood Child and Hidden Forest Mother took home the Grand Prize at the New Chitose International Animation Festival, as well as the Best of the Fest and Best UK Film awards at the London International Animation Festival.
