Christopher Corey Smith, an American actor, writer, and producer, was born in Redwood City, California, to Gladys Jenkins, a banker, and Hal Smith, a commercial photographer. He is of Welsh, Irish, and English descent, and was classically trained at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco.
As a founder and artistic director of his own Shakespeare company in Los Angeles, Smith has had a diverse career, appearing on TV and in movies, but is primarily known for his work in voice-over. He has lent his voice to hundreds of animated projects, commercials, and video games, bringing characters to life such as The Joker in Lego Batman, Luke Skywalker in Phineas and Ferb, and Race Bannon in Jonny Quest.
Smith's interest in voice-over began at a young age, listening to Disney Storybook Albums narrated by the former Mousketeer and Disney legend Ginny Tyler. He credits Tyler as his first voice-over mentor and has since gone on to study extensively with the renowned voice actor Daws Butler, known as the 'king' of Hanna-Barbera voices.
In addition to his work in voice-over, Smith has also been involved in the world of gaming, portraying the globe-trotting adventurer Dr. Hank Johnson in the augmented reality game Ingress since 2012. In his personal life, Smith has been married to Broadway star and voice-over phenom Cindy Robinson since 2022.
