Stephen Fung is a multifaceted and accomplished international filmmaker, actor, and director, renowned for his dynamic and diverse contributions to modern cinema. He made his acting debut in the 1990 film "Forbidden Nights" and has since appeared in numerous blockbuster films across Asia.
In 2004, Fung wrote, directed, and starred in his feature directorial debut, "Enter the Phoenix", produced by Jackie Chan's JCE Movies, which became an instant hit. This was followed by "House of Fury" in 2005, which marked his first collaboration with legendary action choreographer Yuen Woo-ping and was a major success, opening for the Hong Kong International Film Festival and selected for the 18th Tokyo International Film Festival.
Fung continued to balance his acting and directing careers, helming "JUMP" in 2009, written and produced by Stephen Chow for Sony Columbia Pictures Asia. In 2012, he directed the first two instalments of the "Tai Chi" trilogy, "Tai Chi Zero" and "Tai Chi Hero", which garnered commercial success, multiple awards, and were official selections at the Venice, Toronto, and Busan Film Festivals.
In 2016, Fung directed "The Adventurers", featuring an international cast including Jean Reno, Andy Lau, and Shu Qi, which opened at No. 4 globally with a $30 million USD weekend box office. Beyond film, Fung has also served as executive producer, director, and fight director for AMC's acclaimed martial arts series "Into the Badlands".
In 2019, he directed and executive produced the first two episodes of Netflix's "Wu Assassins". With a career spanning acting, directing, and producing, Fung remains a prominent figure in world cinema, known for his versatility and dedication to his craft.
