Stefon Bristol is a multifaceted film director and screenwriter, born and raised in the vibrant borough of Brooklyn, New York.
He co-wrote and directed the captivating Netflix time travel film, See You Yesterday, which premiered in 2019. Prior to embarking on this ambitious project, Bristol pursued his academic endeavors at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, and later honed his skills at New York University's Graduate Film program, under the esteemed mentorship of Spike Lee.
During his time at NYU, Bristol had the opportunity to work closely with Lee, serving as his assistant while Lee was filming BlacKKKlansman. This valuable experience undoubtedly played a significant role in shaping Bristol's future endeavors.
Originally, See You Yesterday was conceived as a short film for Bristol's thesis project, but it eventually evolved into a feature-length film, requiring a remarkable five years to complete. The film received widespread recognition, earning nominations for Best First Feature and Best First Screenplay (co-written with Fredica Bailey) at the 2020 Independent Spirit Awards.
In a remarkable turn of events, Bristol and Bailey took home the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Screenplay, graciously acknowledging Lee's influence and guidance in their acceptance speech.
Bristol is currently poised to direct the intense, sci-fi thriller Breathe, produced by Thunder Road Films, with a script penned by Doug Simon, which was featured on the 2019 Black List. Basil Iwanyk and Brendon Boyea are also on board as producers, ensuring that Bristol's next project will be just as impactful as his previous endeavors.
