Person Biography:
Chris Schaefer is a multi-talented filmmaker with an impressive portfolio of feature films and television shows to his name. His films have premiered at esteemed festivals such as the Berlin Film Festival and South by Southwest, and have gone on to win numerous awards. In addition, his films have been successfully released theatrically and through various streaming platforms, including Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, HBO, PBS, and the Sundance Channel.
Throughout his career, Schaefer has amassed over fifteen feature film credits as a writer, director, and/or producer. Some of his notable projects include "My Last Day Without You," "The Amazing Truth About Queen Raquela," and "Arranged." He has had the privilege of collaborating with a wide range of talented actors and actresses, including Academy Award winner Melissa Leo, Ali Larter, Zoe Lister-Jones, Nicole Beharie, Michael Imperioli, Ken Duken, and David Harbour.
In addition to his work in film, Schaefer has also developed and sold several television shows to major companies such as Sony Pictures TV, AMC, The Weinstein Company, Big Beach, and Mandeville. One of his notable documentary projects is "Even Though The Whole World is Burning," a film about the life and work of Poet Laureate and environmental activist W.S. Merwin. The documentary aired nationally on PBS in April 2016.
Schaefer and his family divide their time between two locations: Haiku, Maui, and Brooklyn.
