Staffan Julén is a multifaceted creative professional, boasting an impressive array of skills as a filmmaker, photographer, director, and producer. Since 1983, he has helmed the direction and production of six internationally acclaimed feature films, primarily documentaries, as well as a multitude of short films.
Notably, his debut feature film, "Inughuit - The People at the Navel of the Earth," released in 1987, was a groundbreaking achievement, earning numerous accolades and recognition at prominent film festivals, including You Reel Cinema, Festival dei Popoli, Anthropos, and Earthwatch. This film's impressive run at the Swedish box office lasted a remarkable three months.
Fast-forward to 2006, and Staffan Julén's feature film "The Prize of the Pole" received widespread critical acclaim and festival recognition, garnering numerous prizes, including the Copenhagen - Dox Amnesty Award, 1st Prize at the Trento Film Festival, 1st Prize at the Anchorage International Film Festival, and the best film award at the Expedition Explorers Club Film Festival in New York. This film was also showcased in competition at the esteemed Hot Docs and Doc Aviv festivals.
