Snezhina Petrova, a renowned Bulgarian actress, was born on January 16, 1970, in Silistra, Bulgaria. With a career spanning over three decades, she has established herself as one of the most successful actresses in Bulgarian theater and film.
Petrova has had the privilege of performing in numerous iconic theatrical productions, including the "Three Sisters" directed by the late Stoyan Kambarev, "Tanya, Tanya," "Marat / Sade," "Life x 3" by Javor Gardev, "The Vagina Monologues," "Archeology of Dreaming," and "Month in the Village." Her collaborations with director Desislava Shpatova have been particularly noteworthy.
Petrova's academic background is equally impressive. She graduated from the National Academy for Theatre and Film Art, Sofia, in 1994, with a degree in acting from the experimental class of Margarita Mladenova, Ivan Dobchev, and Georgi Djulgerov. During her studies, she was actively involved in the performances of Theatre Workshop "Sfumato" and later worked as a freelance actress until 2005.
Her professional journey has been marked by notable roles in plays such as "Parts of the Night" by Georgi Tanev, directed by Yavor Gardev, and "Maids" by Jean Genet, also directed by Gardev. In 1996, Petrova co-founded and became the executive director of the "Legal Art Centre" association, which aimed to promote independent theater projects.
To further hone her craft, Petrova attended workshops led by renowned directors and choreographers, including Krzysztof Zanussi and Robert Tannion. She has also made significant contributions to the field of education, serving as the assistant of Tsvetana Maneva and professor of acting at the Department "Theatre" at New Bulgarian University since 2005. In 2012, she was appointed head of the department.
