Biography

Slawomir Grunberg is a multi-talented documentary producer, director, and cameraman, boasting an impressive array of achievements in the film industry. Having graduated from the prestigious Polish Film School in Lodz, Grunberg's journey began in his native Poland before he immigrated to the United States in 1981.

Throughout his illustrious career, Grunberg has directed and produced over 45 documentary films, showcasing his versatility and dedication to storytelling. Some of his notable works include Still Life in Lodz, Don't Cry When I'm Gone, Karski & The Lords of Humanity, Shimon's Returns, Castaways, Santa Rosa, The Peretzniks, Portraits of Emotion, Coming Out in Poland, The Legacy of Jedwabne, and Saved by Deportation.

One of Grunberg's most acclaimed productions is School Prayer: A Community At War, which premiered on PBS and earned him an Emmy Award. This documentary also won The Jan Karski Award, a prestigious competition that recognizes and awards outstanding television documentaries that highlight moral courage.

Grunberg's impressive resume also includes numerous fellowships and awards. He is a recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship, the New York Foundation for the Arts, and the Soros Justice Media Fellowships.
