Biography

Simone North is a multifaceted creative professional with a diverse range of expertise, including creative producing, writing, and directing. Her extensive portfolio boasts several notable projects, including the 2 x 13 hour mini-series "Fire" and "Fire 2" for the Seven Network, which garnered a 48 share on its final night and earned a nomination for Most Outstanding Mini-Series and Most Popular Drama at the 1994 Logies.

Next, Simone created and produced the 3-season, 48-hour series "Adrenalin Junkies" aka "Medivac" for the Ten Network, followed by the 4-hour mini-series "The Day of the Roses", a dramatization of the true-life train crash in Sydney. The latter earned a 54 share on its final night, won three AFI/AACTA awards, and received numerous guild awards and a Logie for Best Mini-Series.

Simone's subsequent projects include the MOW "The Love of Lionel's Life" for Ten, starring Matt Day, Nadine Garner, and Alex Dimitriades; "Finding Hope", a MOW pilot for Network Ten starring Rebecca Gibney; and the music clip "Ballad of the One Eyed Man" for Mark Seymour, the writer and singer of Hunters and Collectors.

In 2004, Simone created, researched, wrote, and produced the 4-hour mini-series "Through My Eyes" for the Seven Network, starring Miranda Otto, Peter O'Brien, and John McArdle. The series received widespread critical acclaim, with the Sydney Daily Telegraph hailing it as "the best Australian drama of the year, if not the decade". The screenplay was short-listed for the Queensland Premier's Literary Awards and earned several nominations and wins at the 2005 Logies and AFI/AACTA awards.

Simone's feature film debut, "I Am You" aka "In Her Skin", was a true story about the disappearance of 15-year-old Rachel Barber, starring Guy Pearce, Miranda Otto, Sam Neill, Justine Clarke, and Rebecca Gibney. The film won Best Actress for Ruth Bradley at the Milan Film Festival.

Throughout her career, Simone has been a member of various professional organizations, including the Australia Writers Guild, the Australian Directors Guild, SPAA, AFI/AACTA, and the Australian Society of Authors.
