Biography

Sigourney Weaver is a renowned actress with a career spanning over 50 years, during which she has created a wide range of memorable characters in both dramatic and comedic roles. Born and educated in New York City, Weaver graduated from Stanford University and later received a master's degree from the Yale School of Drama.

Weaver's first professional job was in Sir John Gielgud's production of The Constant Wife, where she worked alongside Ingrid Bergman. Her breakthrough role came with Ridley Scott's 1979 blockbuster Alien, in which she played the iconic character of Warrant Officer Ripley. She later reprised this role in James Cameron's 1986 film Aliens, earning her Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for Best Actress.

Throughout her career, Weaver has appeared in a diverse range of films, including Ghostbusters, Gorillas in the Mist, Working Girl, The Year of Living Dangerously, Half Moon Street, and Avatar: The Way of Water. She has also had notable performances in television, including her Emmy-nominated role as Mary Griffith in Lifetime's "Prayers for Bobby" and her SAG, Golden Globe, and Emmy-nominated role as Elaine Barrish in USA Network's miniseries "Political Animals."
