Siddeeqah 'Sid' Powell, a native New Yorker, made the move to Atlanta, Georgia at the tender age of seven, setting the stage for a remarkable journey. Her academic prowess earned her a prestigious College Track Scholarship to Georgia Tech, where she would go on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Management.
Sid's academic pursuits didn't stop there, as she later pursued her Master's degree in English and Creative Writing with a concentration in Screenwriting from Southern New Hampshire University. This academic foundation would serve as a springboard for her illustrious career in the entertainment industry.
As a fiction novelist, Sid co-authored several notable works, including "The Key Party", "She's Just a Friend", and "The Makeup of a Woman". Her success in this realm led her to take on the challenge of live stage production, where she showcased her talents as Writer, Producer, and Director of the stageplay "Pass It Down". Her subsequent work, "Mental", further solidified her reputation as a skilled playwright.
Sid's transition to screenwriting was marked by the NAACP Image Award-nominated TV movie "Somebody's Child", followed by three additional TV movies: "The Dempsey Sisters", "What Would You Do For Love?", and "Love Will Find A Way". Her impressive portfolio now includes a range of scripts for feature and short films, TV series, and made-for-TV movies.
As a member of The Alliance of Women Directors, Sid continues to hone her craft, driven by an unwavering commitment to creating stories that both entertain and educate.
