Sibelle Hu, a talented actress, was born on May 4, 1958, in Taiwan. She embarked on her academic journey at the Faculty of History of the University of Taiwan, graduating in 1981. During her time at university, Hu made her film debut in the 1979 film "Your Smiling Face", which garnered immense popularity in Hong Kong. This initial success paved the way for her to appear in a plethora of Taiwanese drama and romantic films.
As Hu's film career progressed, she transitioned to Hong Kong, where she primarily focused on action films, often taking on the role of a tough, no-nonsense police detective. However, she also showcased her versatility by starring in several action-comedies, including the "My Lucky Stars" film series, where she played the iconic character "Madam Wu". This character's popularity led to the spin-off film series "The Inspector Wears Skirts", in which Hu played a pivotal role, training a group of female police squad members at the Hong Kong Police Academy.
Unfortunately, Hu faced a severe setback in 1989 when she was seriously injured in a fire incident during the filming of "Devil Hunters". Fortunately, she received excellent medical treatment and made a remarkable recovery, allowing her to continue her film career well into the 1990s.
After marrying Patrick Ho Chi-Ping, the former Secretary for Home Affairs of Hong Kong, Hu's film career gradually slowed down. The couple has one daughter together, marking a new chapter in Hu's life.
