Dr. Sian Proctor is a highly accomplished geoscience professor at South Mountain Community College (SMCC) in Phoenix, Arizona, boasting a remarkable academic background comprising a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, a Master of Science in Geology, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Science Education.
As a disaster specialist, Dr. Proctor has extensive experience, having spent her sabbatical at FEMA's Emergency Management Institute, where she developed the science of disasters curriculum. This expertise is further reflected in her passion for space exploration, having been a finalist for the 2009 NASA Astronaut Program and serving as the Education Outreach Officer for both a 2-week and a 4-month NASA-funded Mars simulation.
Dr. Proctor's commitment to education and outreach is evident through her participation in the 2016 Astronomy in Chile Educator Ambassadors Program (ACEAP) and her role as a NASA Solar System Ambassador, engaging in voluntary education outreach.
