Shivaji Satam is a renowned Indian television and film actor, hailing from the University of Mumbai where he earned a degree in Chemistry. He further expanded his knowledge by completing a Diploma in Business Administration and later pursued a career in banking and inspection before making his mark in the film industry.
Satam's television career began with the series Rishte-Naate in 1980, where he shared the screen with Navin Nischol. This marked the beginning of his journey in the television industry.
In 1994, Satam starred in the critically acclaimed film English, August, where he played the role of Govind Sathe alongside Rahul Bose and Tanvi Azmi. This film earned him recognition and acclaim in the industry.
The year 1997 saw Satam's release in two films, Yeshwant, where he portrayed a police inspector, and Ghulam-E-Musthafa, where he played Dayanand Dixit. His performance in Ghulam-E-Musthafa earned him a nomination for Best Actor at the Star Screen Awards.
Satam's big-screen debut came in 1988 with the film Pestonjee, where he played a doctor alongside prominent actors Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi.
However, it was in 1998 that he achieved significant success with the television series C.I.D., which ran for 20 years. Satam's portrayal of ACP Pradyuman earned him the Best Actor in a Lead Role award at the Indian Telly Awards in 2002.
In 2001, Satam appeared in the Marathi film Ek Hoti Vadi, where he played a doctor, and received the Best Actor award at the Maharashtra State Film Awards. He also won the Best Actor award for the play Dhyanimani.
Apart from his television and film work, Satam has also starred in the crime drama Split Wide Open (1999) alongside Rahul Bose and Laila Rouass.
In the years that followed, Satam continued to work in the Marathi film industry, starring in films such as Uttarayan (2004),De Dhakka (2008),Haapus (2010),De Dhakka 2 (2022),and Bamboo (2023).
