Biography

Shayne Edwards was born on May 3rd, 1980, in Lausanne, Switzerland, to American parents who had met at a church retreat while living in Europe. His father, an editor and translator for the International Civil Defense Organization (ICDO),and his mother, a dental hygienist, moved back to the United States just six weeks after his birth.

As a child, Edwards' father worked as a saltwater fisherman on the Carolina Islands, but later retired to pursue a career as a lawyer. This led the family to Ohio, where his father studied at the University of Toledo, and then to Europe for a year, where his father studied international law at the University of Brussels in Belgium.

The family eventually returned to the United States, where his father practiced law in Michigan for five years before settling in Cookeville, Tennessee in 1994.

After high school, Edwards enrolled at Tennessee Technological University, double majoring in history and journalism, with the intention of later pursuing a master's degree in film with a concentration in directing. However, he dropped out and instead spent several years making short films, independently studying the works of directors such as Edward Zwick, M. Night Shyamalan, and Ridley Scott.

In 2005, Edwards moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where he was hired as a senior film editor with an independent production company. He later went freelance in 2006 and moved back to Tennessee, settling in Nashville in 2007, where he continued to freelance, making music videos and EPKs for various music artists.

Edwards had also made an unreleased feature narrative drama/suspense film, Prodigal, but his breakthrough as a director came when he partnered with nationally syndicated radio talk-show host Phil Valentine to direct An Inconsistent Truth, a rebuttal to former vice-president Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth.

After four years in the making, the film was released by Rocky Mountain Pictures in January 2012 in Nashville, where it became the top-grossing movie per screen average in the country for its first two weeks, receiving rave reviews from film critics and recognition from conservative talk show hosts across the country, including former presidential candidate Mike Huckabee and CBS's Inside Edition host Rita Cosby.

Edwards currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee.
